Its more than that…

Its more than a recovery after a big storm

it was more than a hurricane

it was more than about opening up conversation…brian williams

its more than anything I will ever know

although the hero seemed to be the media, the voice: it shouldn’t have

I believe the only people that will ever truly know that storm were the people in front of that god forsaken convention center for 5 days…while nobody did anything

I have an idea for a short film now though that I hope to film next saturday/sunday. I’ll see if i can make it work

bored as all get out

I’m bored. I want something interesting to happen, I want all my friends back in town. I want that paper due tomorrow that I haven’t even started yet. I want some anxiety in my life. I’m so bored. I went to the palestra today only to find it closed. I went to felipe’s for lunch to find another closed thing so inspired by the real world last night, I heard the address and drove around and I found the real world house. I’m doing summer reading so at least some of my time is filled. The highlight of my day will be the jersey shore premier tonight…how pitiful is that? I want it to be winter so bad. I want that little bit of crispness in the air watching a newman football game. Or going to a basketball game and its freezing outside. I want it to be Mardi Gras where everyone is outside and the atmosphere is electrofying. I want to watch the Saints play on Sundays and maybe get a glimpse of ronnie on kick-off return or something on saturdays. I’m actually looking forward to starting school. I want a challenge of some kind. Therefore, I’m doing all school related things this afternoon. vehicle registration forms, ordering books and the like. reading.

Its august in new orleans. Hot temps and short fuses. We may get slammed by a hurricane ( I’m not wishing this on anybody or any city, but it would be a different 4 walls to look at, some excitement, some anxiety) nobody will visit new orleans this month because its too damn hot. We’re all on our own. kinda like how i feel right now…

Hitting the ground running (looking ahead)

When I get home from Houston today, and then starting tomorrow, i need to start on a lot of stuff. Beginning with summer reading. Get that done hopefully by mid august then get started with some greenie stuff. Put my two weeks in at work. Communicate some schedule stuff to the school. Then start school: greenie, football film, and hairspray. But I do have two frees so that’s good. And then basketball, I like our chances in both this year. Odell is amazing and I think Ryan has more discipline than Wes ever did. Plus, nobody has anybody else really. Nobody has any really good seniors but us. Then if summer league is any indicator, basketball will have a top ten seed and have a definite chance to make top 28. But hell, that’s February, a long way off in my book, point is, I have a lot going now again, but I’m looking forward to it, it’s a good change of pace from lounging around all day.

happy 4th

love that we’re too lazy to say happy fourth of July to each other. last year I was on the river watching fireworks. This year I watched them at work at zeypher field. we also went over to my dad’s boss’s house for a fourth of july party. beautiful house on state street. but the fourth is great because its the one day a year that john mellencamp is played everywhere. Another nice 4th. I highly recommend Marvin Gaye’s version of the national anthem. but #nowplaying is Bryan J- Let me take you out. He’s a new artist, kind of undiscovered

treme

just what I needed, a new episode of treme to cheer me up. the mardi gras episode too. Its amazing, I’ve been feeling a little down lately, yeah summer bball goes through june, but idk I just haven’t been feeling like myself. And just seeing mardi gras on tv cheered me up a little.

I seriously don’t know whats up. I’ve practically got school through not this friday but the next one. Film history from 8-12:30 and SAT prep from 1-4. I’m dying a little here, but just have to keep reminding myself that it will free up my schedule next school year which is what i need. Just not feeling good. Am I doing too much stuff? school then work some nights. I’m withering away here. My fuse is pretty short right now so obviously my parents aren’t really too pleased with me right now. just grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I wouldn’t really mind if…

School started tomorrow. I mean, a break is nice every once in a while, but I’m fine with school. I enjoy filming football, and hairspray is going to be the shit. I CAN’T WAIT FOR BASKETBALL SEASON.  Then the spring around here is absolutely amazing. I’m going to be a junior so I’ll know 3 out of the 4 classes in the high school. I’ll have two frees both semesters next year so I’m not worried academically. I know the upcoming senior class is going to be good. I can’t wait to redo the greenie. When you see what we’re doing with it, its going to blow your mind. Sports editor of the yearbook, can’t wait for that. I’m just ready for a challenge, and that’s something that the summer can’t give me. Yeah, summer is gonna be a blast, and its gonna be fun, I’m just saying, I wouldn’t really mind if school started tomorrow.

Am I a Junior

jesus christ, sophomore year is over. I cannot believe it. I remember just yesterday doing little shop and never saw another butterfly. I could write my entire senior dots about this year alone. I love my class. this year was pretty awsome. I liked maybe 10% of this years seniors, but I have confidence in next years’ class to keep it real. yeah, i kinda have school for another 3 weeks with sat prep and film history, but i have faith that it will ll work out. I’m not actually ready for school to end. I  can’t wait until next year. I’ll be back and pumped for another year. Y’all have no idea how great we have it at newman. be thankful we go where we do and live where we live, because i couldn’t love it anymore than i already do. but judging on next year, maybe I can. now i have a like kinda but not really photographic memory. I can do it with really emotional moments, but not for like academic stuff. The things that have stayed with me in my mind: celebrating after the douglass win at home. the locker room after the red river game, and little shop. idk why, but those are the things that stood out.

With the pros

Today was awsome beyond words: started off at 7:30 with overton, micheel, and o’hern. Got rain delayed on fourth hole, and when the players and caddys had loaded up all their stuff into the van to take them to the clubhouse to wait out the rain delay, they saw me walking back in an absolute downpour and stopped and made it a point to make room for me. Classy. so then they end up 8,7,5 under. But walking up the eighteenth at a PGA tour event was amazing( even though it was the second round) they announced their names and I clearly saw myself on the CBS coverage. Then I found myself with Kevin strickland, boo weekly, and mr. Stadler. Boo was absolutely halarious. Just that souuthern accent and talking about all sorts of stuff including what an arse fellow golfer Colin montgomery is, and how Stuart Appleby thinks he knows the right way to do things when he really doesn’t. And then walking back after “too dark to play” was called, he refused a cart ride back to the clubhouse, and proceeded to yell “Boo’s crew this way!” and so about half the gallery ( 10 people) and myself decided to follow him back to the clubhouse. While walking back we crossed the 15th fairway where he encountered two snakes and proceeded to kill them with the sand trap rake. And then we came back to the clubhouse. Good times. And all the players, after they finished their round gave me the ball they used to play the round and autographed it for me. (pictures to come)

its about time

got my license, some thoughts:

1. been waiting a long time for this

2. was really nervous for nothing, I went to the westwego DMV because I heard it was easy, and I heard right. just turns at stopsigns, came to one light, thats it. Didnt paralell park, no 3 point turns no nothing

3. saw laraunt there, did a double take, exchanged bro nods, and sat down

4. so yeah, get to go home at 3 on non golf days

5. best part: get to blast my own music

6. worst part: my money is disappearing more quickly than ever.

7. probably go golf tomorrow, then maybe just drive around, then FQF
