Its more than that...
Its more than a recovery after a big storm
it was more than a hurricane
it was more than about opening up conversation…brian williams
its more than anything I will ever know
although the hero seemed to be the media, the voice: it shouldn’t have
I believe the only people that will ever truly know that storm were the people in front of that god forsaken convention center for 5...

bored as all get out
I’m bored. I want something interesting to happen, I want all my friends back in town. I want that paper due tomorrow that I haven’t even started yet. I want some anxiety in my life. I’m so bored. I went to the palestra today only to find it closed. I went to felipe’s for lunch to find another closed thing so inspired by the real world last night, I heard the address and...
Hitting the ground running (looking ahead)
When I get home from Houston today, and then starting tomorrow, i need to start on a lot of stuff. Beginning with summer reading. Get that done hopefully by mid august then get started with some greenie stuff. Put my two weeks in at work. Communicate some schedule stuff to the school. Then start school: greenie, football film, and hairspray. But I do have two frees so that’s good. And then...
happy 4th
love that we’re too lazy to say happy fourth of July to each other. last year I was on the river watching fireworks. This year I watched them at work at zeypher field. we also went over to my dad’s boss’s house for a fourth of july party. beautiful house on state street. but the fourth is great because its the one day a year that john mellencamp is played everywhere. Another nice...

Wow, ok, its already July, I cannot believe this. Now theres the fourth. Then a weekend trip to philly and NYC with dad. then I have camp for a week in HOTLANTA. then dad’s convention in Houston for another 4 days. and then hello August and school starts the 26th. crazy crazy stuff.
treme
just what I needed, a new episode of treme to cheer me up. the mardi gras episode too. Its amazing, I’ve been feeling a little down lately, yeah summer bball goes through june, but idk I just haven’t been feeling like myself. And just seeing mardi gras on tv cheered me up a little.
I seriously don’t know whats up. I’ve practically got school through not this friday but...

School started tomorrow. I mean, a break is nice every once in a while, but I’m fine with school. I enjoy filming football, and hairspray is going to be the shit. I CAN’T WAIT FOR BASKETBALL SEASON. Then the spring around here is absolutely amazing. I’m going to be a junior so I’ll know 3 out of the 4 classes in the high school. I’ll have two frees both semesters...
Am I a Junior
jesus christ, sophomore year is over. I cannot believe it. I remember just yesterday doing little shop and never saw another butterfly. I could write my entire senior dots about this year alone. I love my class. this year was pretty awsome. I liked maybe 10% of this years seniors, but I have confidence in next years’ class to keep it real. yeah, i kinda have school for another 3 weeks with...

With the pros
Today was awsome beyond words: started off at 7:30 with overton, micheel, and o’hern. Got rain delayed on fourth hole, and when the players and caddys had loaded up all their stuff into the van to take them to the clubhouse to wait out the rain delay, they saw me walking back in an absolute downpour and stopped and made it a point to make room for me. Classy. so then they end up 8,7,5 under....
its about time
got my license, some thoughts:
1. been waiting a long time for this
2. was really nervous for nothing, I went to the westwego DMV because I heard it was easy, and I heard right. just turns at stopsigns, came to one light, thats it. Didnt paralell park, no 3 point turns no nothing
3. saw laraunt there, did a double take, exchanged bro nods, and sat down
4. so yeah, get to go home at 3 on non...

I think too much
I think too much about it, what’s it like to bury a friend. I hardly knew him, but he keeps sneaking back up on me. I had the idea the other week (still working on it), or that memorial fund page that was just created. I even had a dream that had somewhat to do with him the other night. How creepy is that? I’ll go and find that video that Stanford made maybe once a month or so.

looking up
1. got a job as an usher at the New Orleans’ Zyphers stadium. $10 an hour to sit around and watch baseball and answer a few questions now and then… not a bad gig
2. volunteered for the Zurich Classic, went to pick up all my free stuff today, I’m gonna get to walk inside the ropes, on the course with the players and keep score, can’t wait.
3. one week to spring break

something cool for matt
I want to find out who is in charge of those state championship banners in the palestra, and then see how I could get a black #7 put on the 2009 soccer state championship banner. Its already hanging, but I’m sure it could be changed. It almost seems as if his death has already faded from the conciousness of the student body, as it should have, since everybody has to move on.
Although I...

memories
it was one hell of a basketball season, its like no other sport, 32 minutes all out, unparalelled strategy, you get closer than any other team other can. only 15 guys, spending more time with the team than with their own family’s over a 4 month period. memories about this season both good and bad:
“onto the next one” to start warmups
Havens’ shot against curtis
almost...

top of the world
just had an amazing first mardi gras here in new orleans.
basketball team officially won district today, we should be a top 10 seed in the tournament. and if we win thursday(which we will), we will become the first team in over 20 years at my high school to go undefeated in our district, and thats saying a lot with players like randy livingston, and coaches like fitz.
10 day trip: cruise around...
galapagos and some other stuff
first, a pretty good start to Mardi Gras last night.
Then I woke up this morning and realized I leave for foreign country in five days, and have done absolutely nothing to prepare. I got a lot done this morning so that was good.
I’m so glad I’m going on this trip, I just don’t get the appeal of wonder week, I really don’t. Its like, if you can’t take the classes you...
CALIFORNIA!
I’ll listen to california by phantom planet, and sort of wish I had that life, either just living in the hills or over in mulholland or that Laguna Beach lifestyle, but then I listen to Preservation Hall Jazz Band’s “Do You Know What It Means To Miss New Orleans” and it makes it all better.
Meanwhile, there are 4 AMAZING parades rolling tomorrow night. People are talking...
a good start
2 parades, lots of beads, and a great dinner at pascale’s manale. good stuff, I had to restrain myself as I saw my friends off in the distance, but I know it’ll all be good next weekend. Can’t wait

seeing the light
there is light at the end of the tunnel, and I see it, two weeks, this week is gonna be normal, but super bowl crazy, not having the play is gonna be nice for once. next week, since im convinced we’re not having school the day after the super bowl, we’ll have monday off, then 4 days and im done with school for the month of february. mardi gras, then the galapagos islands. i cannot...

STAND UP AND GET CRUNK
when I heard the bells for the first time this morning, that was just amazing, I love my school.
Meanwhile, Mr. Timko and Senora Davis were both not at school today (make assumptions at your own risk) and I have tests in both of those classes tomorrow.
wouldn't it be something
“Colts versus Saints: New Orleans helped raise the Manning boys. Yet with the Saints trying to win their first Super Bowl, the son of one of the city’s most famous families would attempt to prevent it from happening. Peyton Manning’s high school, Isidore Newman, would be torn.”

and then proceeded to ask me how “the party” was and take like 5 hangover pills when...
dont know what to call this one
First, let me just say, if I get through next week, It’ll be a miracle. Spanish test, spanish quiz, civics test, civics paper, chemistry test, chemistry paper, english paper, Math test,
Now for basketball, I love this sport. the stratagey that goes into it, the non stop action, the underdogs, the mental mindset you have to be in to play. How you can be down by 15 points and still be...

ok…so maybe we started it, but they took it to far:
There’s a line in the movie hoosiers where Gene Hackman, playing coach Norman Dale says something along the lines of, “you expect us to play in this cage you call a gym, your fans and players are like animals!”
well that may be a little over the top, but the parkview baptist fans get a huge C’MON MAN, from me. So...

play
so mark allain wrote the winter play,in place of Bang, Bang, You’re Dead. and its really good. Its so erie, his original inspiration was Rob Rosencrans brother who had an O.D. but then when Matt died over break, it sort of changed a few things, like he didn’t even mean to write it about Matt, but it turns out almost like exactly what happened to Matt. now thats scary
anyways
yeah… I regret my twitter post from earlier, probably shouldn’t of said anything. If other basketball players start to talk about it, I will too, but if they don’t, I’ll probably keep it to myself. Its sort of a private team matter, but I feel like it happened in such a public place that it should sorta be public knowledge

first day back
well, today was interesting:
1. I had no idea today was still first semester schedule, so I thought I had choir but I didn’t, so first day tomorrow, apparently somebody spread the news because people who I didn’t tell somehow know I’m in choir now.
2. Then the assembly for Matt, that was intense. Zell’s was so emotional and has the right to be, he was his advisor after...
WW2
Today was my first shift at the world war 2 museum from 9-1:
I worked at the info desk first, just getting shown the ropes and checking coats. Then I went over to the new theater, where I greeted people, tore tickets, and gaurded the door to the theater. Theres a lot of crowd management too beacause you have to fit a lot of people in a small space.
Things got a little dicey at this point: My...

I had to see what this whole Jersey Shore thing was all about so I’m watching it for the first time right now, its pretty great, just the one liners:

“So we got these girls in bed, and then there like, um we have to leave, and then I was like chill out freckles...

New Years
Last year, I was in seaside on New Years and we had dinner at Bud and Alley’s, my dad was consulting in New Orleans, but we weren’t sure about our future, can’t believe we now have sold our house in stl, live in a great house in nola, my mom has a job, my dad has a job, and I’m going to a school I love, in the big picture, all is well.

Wow
well here I sit, on the couch, last day of the decade, what was I thinking when I was 5 years old on December 31st, 1999, I can’t tell you that, but I can tell you what I’m thinking right now, December 31st, 2009, so here we go:
Wow, its difficult to characterize this decade, it wasn’t grunge in the 90’s, it wasn’t disco in the 70’s, it wasn’t the hippie...

good news, and thinking
first of all, pushed a few buttons and pulled a few strings, and I got into choir. I’m doing independant study P.E so I could make room for choir. So I gotta go through the whole schedule change thing and gotta talk to sears and make sure its all ok with him, and gotta schedule all my P.E. stuff, but I should be able to do it. might take a week to get everything stright.
I also appreciate K...
one more game today for third place in the curtis tourney. lost yesterday 49-48, they scored with 7 seconds left and we couldn’t get it back. Nothing really tomorrow, dinner with dad. Nothing else for now really.
What are you doing for New Years?
the olympics
I love the olympics. It’s almost like the world stops for 2 weeks to just sit there and watch. Then there’s always the huge events like snowboarding, or track 100 meters, and your not rooting for a person, or a team, you’re rooting for your country and I think thats really great
I don’t know if anybody else does this, but I use them as a measure of time, they technically...
