the olympics

I love the olympics. It’s almost like the world stops for 2 weeks to just sit there and watch. Then there’s always the huge events like snowboarding, or track 100 meters, and your not rooting for a person, or a team, you’re rooting for your country and I think thats really great

I don’t know if anybody else does this, but I use them as a measure of time, they technically happen every 2 years, but really every 4. and so I like to think about what I was doing during the 2006 olympics in torino. I would call bullshit if you told me I would be living in New Orleans, Louisiana, and would be on Mardi Gras break in the galapagos islands while attending the school Payton and Eli Manning went to. and then what will I be doing in 2012, what college will I have choosen?

What about 2016 in Rio De Jinero, I will have gotten my bachlors, and who knows what else. I’ve never been to an olympic event, and I think 2016 in Rio would be the year to go, that would be so cool. I dont necessarily wanna go to London for the 2012 games because, well its just London, but Rio, I’ll be 22, just out of college, go with some college buddies, that would be amazing.

I’ll be in the galapagos for most of these games, and since Ecuador isn’t necessairily a winter sports powerhouse, I don’t think I’ll get the same feeling, but hey olympics happen every 4 years, when’s the next time I’ll be in the galapagos islands.

Just the pure excitement of it, you can’t tell me you weren’t jumping up and down on the couch rooting for Micheal Phelps and then picking your jaw up off the floor when he beat Cavich by .01 seconds or when Usain Bolt broke the World record while pulling up and celebrating before the race was over. Or the winter olympics in 80 with the Miracle on ice, and all the politics of it. or ‘72 in Munich and how scary that was.

I also think NBC does a great job covering the olympics, with sending the today’s show over there along with all their top broadcasters and then the recap show every night, I just can’t get enough of it all
