I want to find out who is in charge of those state championship banners in the palestra, and then see how I could get a black #7 put on the 2009 soccer state championship banner. Its already hanging, but I’m sure it could be changed. It almost seems as if his death has already faded from the conciousness of the student body, as it should have, since everybody has to move on.
Although I don’t want it to ever fully leave anyone who ever goes to Newman, not only is it a great in memoriam thing to do, but its also a great lesson about what not to do. When kids who go to Newman years from now ask about that black #7 on that one banner, teachers can tell them what happened and the kids can see that it can happen to anybody at anytime and can hit really close to home as well.
